Hello Everyone!

You have probably noticed I have changed my artist name to my real name, Selena Garcia. Ryan is my middle name.

I originally went with Selena Ryan because I thought it was a better stage name. I hate that term by the way! ;) Let's say "artist name". I thought it would just take some getting used to, but even though I got used to it, it never felt right.

This was a hard decision because getting your name out there is a HUGE part of being an artist. Radio stations have my name as Selena Ryan, all of my promo, press stuff like photos etc. So...after a lot of contemplation, I decided to change my name to Selena Garcia. And it feels great!!!

Thank-you so much for your continued support!! I would be no where without you!

Hello Everyone!!!

I have posted a NEW RECORDING of one of my songs called "To Be Me". Todd Washington plays amazing guitars for an acoustic, stripped down version I am excited to share. My plans with "To Be Me", is to take you on a musical journey, sharing the evolution of a song. Aside from the Beatles “Strawberry Fields {Forever}”, how many times do you get to hear the different versions of a song before it reaches its final destination? A first recipe, repeated a number of times for the perfect, sometimes more complex treat! In no way a comparison, I would like to show you where “To Be Me” has started to where it will end up. And while I do not even know where it will truly end up, you will be surprised what a little cello and harmonies could do. ;) I hope you will share your thoughts with me. My dad for example, really wants to teach me the lyrics in Spanish. ;)

And, as always, I have been keeping busy with writing, planning a new photo shoot and working on merchandise! I am also working on booking shows in Northern California and everywhere in-between. So, there is a lot going on for which I am grateful! If you live in, or are planning a trip to California, please take a look at my "shows" section for upcoming dates. I have been working on an acoustic recording of my song "To Be Me". Todd Washington recorded the guitars for this song and did an amazing job! I hope to share it with you within the next week or so! :)

Most of my attention lately has been dedicated to writing and making some adjustments to my set. I look forward to sharing all of the exciting things to come!!

The “Best Kept Secrets” Industry Showcase for Music Connection Magazine went really well! We introduced two new songs, “Settle Down” & “Indispensable”, and had guest guitarist Todd Washington accompany for an acoustic version of “Give In”. Thank-you to everyone who came!!

Before our next full band performance on September 20th (check “shows” section for details) I am staying dedicated to writing and prepping for my EP. October will be a busy month behind the scenes as I kick my writing, along with a few other things, into full gear!

I cannot believe how quickly summer is passing; or should I say how quickly time flies when you are having fun?! :) I have been doing a lot of writing with a few different people, working on an altogether more focused sound. I have been waiting a while to release this song, and I am sooo excited to be sharing it with you now!!!! I already know that "Change" is going to throw many of you off, for this is by far the most risk taking song I have ever done! This is also one of my favorites!!!!
Being an artist is wonderful!! Especially as a musician, you get to tap into your emotions and create a reflection of the immeasurable. You cannot hold it in your hands, you cannot touch it, or break it...you create from within and set it free to hopefully touch someone else. I truly love this song, and I love to perform it live. I hope you will like it as much as I do!!

It is springtime and the sun is shining! I have been busy planting seeds for a successful year and I am excited for what is to come!!

What a great week!! The tracks have been laid down and the demo is almost complete! It’s being mixed now and will be ready next weekend. 2006, here I come!! I am anxious to get into the studio and will be playing out and about come February. I will be using my brand new mic (thanks to Santa) to share new songs I know you will love!! Finally~ the last week of January I will be heading into the studio to record my demo!!! I know, I know…you have heard this before! ;) But this time it’s actually scheduled and in the books. I am excited to be working with an amazingly talented engineer, Aris Archontis (check him out on my links page) who will make it worth the wait!

In the meantime I am in the process of booking a show for February, writing & collaborating on new material, and possibly scheduling another photo shoot for early January.
