September Already?! - September 9, 2008

Hi There!

I can’t believe it’s September already!! My, how times flies…

I’ve been keeping quite busy and want to share the latest with you.

RECORDING: I head into the studio on Sept. 29th for two weeks and I’m extremely excited!! Jim Roach will be producing the EP (Hoku, The Rosewood Fall, This World Fair) and I am so happy to have found someone who is as passionate about the project as I am!! It was also really important for me to find a producer I not only trusted, but one I could really connect with musically. Someone who appreciates the same things I do about music and has the talent and ability to meld the many different styles I love into one cohesive sound. I felt right away he was the perfect match for my project and when you hear what we have been working on… you will too!!!

For more info on Jim and to see the studio where we will be recording, go to his website at www.jimroachmusic.com (click STUDIO for studio info).

ON THAT NOTE… we are still fundraising for the “oh so pricey” thing called recording and while I know these are rough times economically, I hope you know that every donation no matter the size will be deeply, deeply appreciated!! It is also very important for me to share that whatever you donate will be taken care of with the utmost attention and care. For more information on how you can be a part of this project click "DONATE" on the navigation bar to the left. :)

LOVELY MKTG: As you know there are many sites that allow you to promote your music online and here are few new ones I have joined:

A Few New Photos - July 25, 2008

A few new photos have been added to the "Pix" section. ;)

New EP This Fall! - July 17, 2008

Hey There!

I have been working really hard prepping for my upcoming EP and cannot wait to get into the studio! We are doing 5 fully produced tracks and I have been meeting with some amazing producers (all of my other projects, with the exception of one song, “Settle Down”, are all self-produced). We are going to take our time to make sure this project is undeniable and we cannot do it without you!! As you know, recording is a VERY costly thing to do and it would mean everything for me to be able to share it with you. :)

I have seen many, many artists launch their own fundraising campaigns and figured… why not give it a shot?! While we are working with investors, these are rough times economically and we need all the help we can get! ;) Every donation no matter the size will be deeply, deeply appreciated! It is very important for me to share that whatever you donate will be taken care of with the utmost attention and care!

I am truly blessed for all of your support! To learn more or to make your donation, all you have to do is go to the "DONATE" section of my site and click on the PayPal "Donate" button! :) Should you have any questions, please shoot them to info@selenagarcia.com and we'll get back to you right away! Thank-you for your continuous support, I am truly humble!

New Song - "Black" - June 30, 2008

Hi There!!

I posted an acoustic, stripped down version of my song “Black”. My guitarist Bruno recorded an album of original work and "Black" was asked to be included. I am very grateful for the opportunity he gave me to record this song. I did contemplate on posting it simply because it was written on piano and without that and the full band altogether, it takes on quite a different vibe; the chorus in particular. HOWEVER, given the limited time and resources we had to do it, Bruno Grandeza and Aris Archontis did an AMAZING job!!!! While this is not a part of my new recording project, it’s a song very dear to me and I hope you like it!! :)

Happy Saturday!! - June 7, 2008

Hi There!

The weather is getting nicer, so hopefully you are taking full advantage. I finally hit the driving range yesterday and have some pretty lovely blisters on my hands as a result. ;) It feels great to be playing again, nevertheless.

I just wanted to touch base to say hi and let you know what’s been going on.

1) EAST COAST TOUR – After much consideration we will be forgoing the tour on the east coast. The recording project is our number one priority right now as well as rehearsing the band. I still hope to go to NY for some writing and possibly an open mic. or two. ;) I do love NY and would like to see some fellow musicians who are doing their thing out there.

2) WRITING/ RECORDING – I have met with some amazing people who have shared their experiences, wisdom and talent for which I am truly grateful. They have inspired me deeply and I’m excited to be writing from an entirely new place. We are still finding the right team for the studio, but as mentioned before, it’s not something you want to rush. In the meantime, I am enjoying writing and meeting new people.

3) LIVE SHOWS – I am working behind the scenes on putting together an entirely new live show. I might be playing some open mics but it’s not time for any live shows. When the time is right…I would LOVE to play for you again!!

4) VIDEO – We are working on a new video segment and I hope to have something fun and silly to share soon…all behind the scenes mumbo jumbo.

MISC: I hope to share a new song with you soon. It’s a song of mine that was asked to be included on this recording project someone else did and we recorded a simple, stripped down version. It’s called “Black” and it should be done very soon.

Thanks again for your support and I really hope this finds you well!! I am off to do some writing by the pool. ENJOY your weekend!!

Love,
Selena

Thanks Nor-Cal! - April 15, 2008

Hi There!

I just got back from my mini Nor-Cal tour and it was such a great experience! My guitarist Bruno and I packed up the car for a couple shows including a live performance/ interview on KZFR 90.1 FM in Chico. This was my first radio interview/ performance and we had so much fun! Thanks DJX! Hopefully there will be many more radio interviews in the future.

This trip to Chico was my first time back since I graduated college and I was beyond excited! Ironically some old college pals were in town that same weekend so we were sure to enjoy ourselves and hang like old times. Of course I had to hit campus for some reminiscing and even ran into an old music professor of mine. He was the hardest out of all my music teachers and only remembered me when I told him I was the girl who wrote the paper on Forro music (pronounced “Foh-ho”). It is a style of music in North Eastern Brazil that he knew nothing about until my paper and asked if he could keep the CD’s I attached for reference. Bruno (who is from Brazil) was also sure to let me know he does not like Forro music. ;) Anyway, the campus and city have changed a lot. While it is still a fun college town, it’s much nicer with all the changes they have made.

Overall, I learned soooo much from this little trip and want to thank everyone who came out to a show!! I saw many new faces as well as familiar faces and it made it that much sweeter. East coasters, I do hope to see you at the end of this summer. :) Please continue to check back for show dates!

While I hoped to share new material with you by now, mixing has been a bit of a process. Maybe I will share one that is actually done. Hmmmm…I think I should. :) Stay tuned and thanks for your continuous support!!!

Recording! - March 19, 2008

Hi There!

I am finally heading into the studio to record two new songs. The purpose of these recordings is simply to have something new to share with YOU! :) I am only recording these 2 songs because I have plans to head back into the studio early this summer to record a full length EP. It all just comes down to finding the right team and of course…funding! Blah, blah…money! ;)

I have added a few dates to the calendar and would love to play for you. If you can make it out to any of these shows, please do! Check the "shows" section for details.

Thanks again for your continuous support and I hope this finds you well!!

Happy President's Day! - February 18, 2008

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! While it’s not my favorite holiday, it’s one that always makes me laugh. I rode in the elevator with a woman who received flowers and she was grinning ear to ear. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the thought of it all. Ha, ha, even still I can’t help but laugh out loud! I really do love all holiday’s, though… I don’t discriminate. SO happy President’s Day Ya’ll!! :)

I would like to share a few things with you…

1) WRITING/ RECORDING - I am still writing, and as mentioned before, I am really excited about these new songs! I have plans to get into the studio next month with the sole purpose of sharing new material with you.

2) LIVE SHOWS – I am playing in San Diego next Sunday – 2/24 @ 8:30pm and I am really looking forward to this show. Because I will be recording in March, I have no plans to play again until April, where I will be hitting up Nor-Cal. 3) CONGRATS – I also want to take the time to let you know my manager Jonah and his beautiful wife Annie delivered their first bundle of Joy on February 5th!! His name is Seamus (pronounced Shea-muss) and from the little pic I saw of him, he looks absolutely perfect!!! I hope to meet him in person soon. Now that I am not sick anymore… jeez!

Thanks for reading and even more so for your support!! I hope this finds you well…

Beauty Of A Dream... - February 11, 2008

My, things have been busy, busy!! :) But… it’s a good kind of busy.

Hopefully this finds you well and in good health. I was down with a nasty cold for about 2 weeks which resulted in a sinus infection. It seems to be going around so drink your Airborne and take those vitamins!

I have been busy writing and have plans to share some of the new stuff with you soon. I am reeeeaaally excited about some of this new stuff and about creating in general with a clear idea of what I want.

In addition to writing I have been mapping out my mini Nor-Cal tour and I’m beyond excited to hit the road!! I will be hopping in the car with my guitarist Bruno in April and we would love to play for you – please continue checking back for show dates!

In a nutshell this is what I have been up to! :) I did have the pleasure of attending the 50th Anniversary of the Grammy’s last night and it was amazingly inspiring!! Being able to see some of my idols perform live was an insane gift and I am beyond grateful. To be able to step into your dream for a night and have it waved in front of you…watching others live that dream, is unreal and almost indescribable. What a beautiful thing to dream and what a beautiful thing to fight for that dream. Whether or not my dream comes true… dreams do come true. You will just never know if you don’t give it the blood, sweat and tears it takes to bloom.

Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

Street Teams - January 12, 2008

Hi Everyone!

This year I will be playing as many shows as possible, inside and outside of LA. I will be hitting up the East and West Coast and ask that if you are at all interested in joining my “musical family”, to please sign up as a Street Team Member by shooting an email to info@selenagarcia.com with the following info:

Full Name:
City Where You Live:
Mailing Address:
Email Address:

OPTIONAL INFO:
Phone Number:
Venues in your hometown that you recommend I play:

As you know, when you live so far from where you are playing you cannot always go in advance to hang posters and pass out flyers to do the kind of promotion you would like. That is why street teams are very important to an artist, and very important to me! Street team members will receive random fun perks like free MP3’s, tickets, autographed photos and more! I already have a few fun ideas aside from those to mix it up… so if you are at all interested, please sign up!

THANK-YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!!! This is going to be a great year ahead and I would love to share it with you!

Love,
Selena

"To Be Me" Music Video - January 2, 2008

Hi Everyone!

Happy New Year! I hope it is off to a great start!

I just wanted to let you know that I posted my first music video ever and it's for my song "To Be Me". :) You can find it on my MySpace www.myspace.com/selenaryanmusic, and on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKDhE0NreTA.

Catie Laffoon was the director and mastermind behind it all; it was a first for us both! It was such a cool experience and I had a lot of fun! Another HUGE thanks to everyone who worked on it and of course a special, gigantic, sincere thank-you to Catie (aka "Laffoonie)!! I have to warn you that you will see some shots of me with NO make-up. My, am I daring...or nuts?! Hmmm both? For that reason alone it should be rated "R".

Catie and I will also be doing a smaller video segment here soon, showing you some fun behind the scenes stuff and in particular, the preparation for a show! Since my next show is on Thursday, January 17th, it will be posted shortly after that. Keep checking back for the latest and greatest and thanks so much for reading!

Love,
Selena

It's Raining! - November 30, 2007

Hey There!

It's raining here in LA! O'h how we have needed it...

I hope this finds you warm and cozy, gearing up for another holiday! Nothing sounds better right now than sitting at home with my brand new guitar ;) (Merry X-mas to me) and a cup of hot chocolate! Mmmm

BUT, there is too much to do to be sitting still. This weekend I will be shooting the video for "To Be Me" with Catie Laffoon behind
the camera. I will be surrounded by my talented friends so it's less
like work and more like play; except for the fact that I have to be there at the butt crack of dawn. ;) I will be sure to bring a camera to capture some of the fun behind the scenes.

I have added a show to the calendar, playing Tangier on Thursday, January 17th at 9pm. This is my first time at Tangier so come join us for dinner or just a bevie! Check the "shows" section for details.

There are some other cool things in the works that I look forward to sharing in due time, but until then, please fill me in on what you have been up to! :)

PS -- I had no intention of buying myself a "x-mas gift" when I went into Guitar Center on Wednesday. I went in to get some strings and was attacked by salesmen!! They were really smooth and so was I; I batted my eyelashes and talked them down to half price! My negotiating skills have improved!!! After such a rough year...it was easy to talk myself into deserving the fine X-mas gift! ;)

Love,
Selena

New Management & More! - November 1, 2007

I can't believe it's November already!! Now that Halloween is over the holiday's are going to fly by.

Before that happens, I want to fill you in on the latest! :)

1) NEW MANAGEMENT - Please join me in welcoming my new Manager Jonah Cozien to the fam!!! He has a background in entertainment law and brings an energy, creative spirit, passion and support that I have needed! Our team is growing and things are looking bright! If you need to contact Jonah, he can be reached at jcozien@gmail.com.

2) WRITING/ RECORDING - In addition to writing on my own I have been collaborating with some great new talent!! I am really excited about some of these new songs and hope to get into the studio early next year.

3) LIVE SHOWS -- One's got to keep up with the live chops, so I am
planning a few intimate shows here in LA and surrounding areas.
Please continue checking back for dates and locations! You never know when one might just pop-up! ;)

3) MUSIC VIDEO -- I will be shooting a music video for "To Be Me" on
December 2nd and 3rd with Catie Laffoon & team. It's going to be a
blast and I am really looking forward to this experience!

4) CONGRATS! - Last but not least, PLEASE help me congratulate my
piano player/ songwriting partner Drew Lawrence and his wife Sara on their first bundle of joy!! Grady Owen Lawrence is perfect with 10 fingers, 10 toes, and ONE HECK OF A VOICE! I have learned he is quite the sleeper and does not cry much at night, BUT, I have also heard a few cries and they are more like high pitch Steven Tyler wails!
;) CONGRATULATIONS you two!!!

Thanks for reading and even more so for your support!! I am truly
humbled. xo

Love,
Selena

Because of this, my music fell upon new ears and I gained new fans!! Word of mouth is the best form of support you can give an indie artist such as myself, so thank-you truly!!

I am putting together some shows in and outside of LA, so please check back to see if I'll be playing in your neck of the woods!

I hope this finds you well and thank-you for stopping by!

Love,
Selena

Well hello! - August 8, 2007

Hopefully you are enjoying your summer; it sure seems to be flying by!
I have been extremely busy myself and the clothes piled on my bed are a good reflection of this! But, busy is good. :) I have a photo shoot this weekend that is long overdue and I look forward to getting these new pics up as soon as possible!

The last we spoke I was recording “Black” and writing, writing, writing! I have stepped away from recording “Black” for I would like to take it in a new direction. I am thinking of just holding off a little longer and going into the studio to record a group of songs at once, opposed to just one at a time. I am excited about my new songs and will be sharing some at my next show – Sunday, September 16th at Hotel Café. If you live in the LA area, I do hope to see you there!!

The music video for “Settle Down” is still in its treatment phase, so we will be unable to start filming this month. Paolo Borraccetti is the talent behind the video and I am really excited to work with him – he rocks! :) I will continue to keep you posted!

Thank-you so much for reading and live well my friend!! As Benjamin Franklin once said – “Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that's the stuff life is made of.”

Love,
Selena
